Engineered Fabric Buildings, Technology, and Friendly Staff

WeatherPort® offers start-to-finish customer service for our fabric buildings!

At WeatherPort® Shelter Systems, we understand the tension fabric structure market can be a crowded and sometimes confusing place, especially for people without construction backgrounds or knowledge about engineered fabric buildings.

For more than 50 years, WeatherPort has produced the world’s highest-quality fabric tension structures. We engineer and design all our fabric buildings to meet or exceed area-specific and International Building Code (IBC) standards for safety.

But we don’t stop there.

Expert third-party sources independently verify the quality and safety of our engineering. Additionally, our friendly building specialists, engineers, designers and project managers will be there for you every step of the way, from the initial consultation, to selecting or designing the right structure, and to the installation of your WeatherPort fabric building.

Engineered for Durability, Versatility, and Long Life

Fabric buildings engineered to thrive in extreme environments!

WeatherPort® uses high-strength polyvinyl chloride fabrics in all of our fabric buildings. We engineer our fabric structures to meet your exact specifications for wind and snow loads, ground conditions, and performance needs.

Our fabric buildings are engineered to last, capable of withstanding year-long use for decades. No tension fabric structures are made to withstand extreme environments with temperatures as frigid as -80 ̊ F or as blistering as +130 ̊ F degrees in the shade.

WeatherPort’s fabric membranes also allow for additional processing, which includes adding custom logos to help you increase brand awareness. Available in a variety of colors, our tension fabric structures have the ability to blend in with their surroundings or stand out in a crowd.

WeatherPort® Frames Provide Unbeatable Support

A fabric tensioned structure is only as good as its frame. WeatherPort® offers three types of frame materials: high-strength aluminum, galvanized steel, and fiberglass framing engineered to meet any environmental or functional challenge head-on, including fabric building size.

Our high-quality 50 kilipound-per-square-inch (KSI) yield aluminum and 55 KSI tensile steel is ideal for large and small fabric buildings, as well as heavy-duty construction.

Our aluminum and steel frames feature square tube arching based on the size and specified wind and snow loads of your area. Square tube single arches are generally used on smaller buildings such as greenhouses, yurts, camp tents, and outdoor canopy structures.

Larger buildings such as warehouses, workshops, hangars, and event pavilions employ square tube trusses rather than round tubing or I-beams due to its larger surface area, which helps prevent deformities.

WeatherPort’s lightweight, durable aluminum frames are perfectly suited for highly portable fabric building applications. This includes warm-weather outdoor events or indoor convention canopies that need to be set up and taken down multiple times.

Our sturdy, galvanized steel frame is especially useful for tensioned membrane structures that will stand up against the most extreme environments such as heavy snow loads, high winds, and excessive rainfall.

Whether you have a highly specialized project, a remote operation, or a public event, our aluminum, steel, or fiberglass frame system options will protect sensitive equipment such as radar antennas and electronic tools.

We offer four different solutions to ensure your frame is resistant to corrosion, rust, and damage: 99.9% bonded pure zinc coating, chromate conversion coating, organic polymer coating, and in-house custom powder coating in a variety of colors.

In-House Powder Coating

Add an additional level of corrosion resistance!

WeatherPort® has more than 50 years of proven experience engineering custom-built structures for environments around the world. We realize the need for functional and decorative finishes to protect our high-strength framing systems. Our optional powder coating offers an attractive solution for customized branding and aesthetics, as well as provides an additional level of corrosion protection that your project may require.

Our in-house powder coating process starts with the metal framing undergoing an extensive surface treatment followed by the application of a bonded zirconium and chromate conversion coating, and then an electrically applied powder coating to achieve maximum durability against rust, salt, air, chemicals, oxidation, ultraviolet light, humidity, and other extreme conditions.

Compared to other finishes, our powder coating process provides greater resistance to chipping, scratching, and fading so colors stay bright and vibrant longer. We offer many standard energetic colors!

Secure Your Weatherport Fabric Building on a Variety of Foundations

Ensure safety and stability with fabric building anchoring options to any surface!

The design of our fabric buildings provides you with an extensive variety of foundation options to meet each project’s requirements. Materials ideally suited for anchoring a WeatherPort fabric building include:

  • Concrete
  • Building Pads
  • Wood Platforms
  • Intermodal Shipping Containers (ISO)

Concrete foundations are a superb option for creating a clean ground surface and maximizing the stability and safety of your fabric building. You can easily attach our fabric tension structures to concrete foundations by using concrete wedges, sleeves and/or expansion anchors.

If you plan to keep your WeatherPort building in one place for an extended period of time, our engineers recommend you use concrete in any of these forms:

  • Precast Concrete Blocks (Ecology Blocks)
  • Poured-In-Place (PIP) Concrete Walls
  • PIP Concrete Slab-On-Grade
  • Precast Slab Sections
  • Subgrade Continuous Footers
  • Subgrade Pier Footers

Not every project requires concrete foundations, and WeatherPort offers other safe, strong and field-tested anchoring options. One-half-inch (1/2”) diameter spikes and/or duckbill anchors are popular options for anchoring directly into the ground.

Wood is a solid choice as a foundation platform for camp tents and temporary housing, and you can easily attach a WeatherPort fabric building using lag bolts. If your project requires fabric tension structures to be anchored to shipping containers, skids or trailers, you can easily bolt or weld a WeatherPort to the supporting structure.

Insulation Engineered for Comfort in any Environment

Fabric building insulation packages to meet any R-Value!

WeatherPort® makes insulation systems for use in all our high-quality fabric structures. Our integrated product approach allows us to create insulated fabric buildings that are highly portable, pack small for low-cube shipping, and easily and quickly assemble, no matter your skill level.

Despite being easier to install than metal or brick-and-mortar structures, WeatherPort® fabric building can be insulated to any R-value of thermal resistance, and we’ve designed several insulation systems that provide comfort while using a lower volume of material than traditional fiberglass products.

Easy-to-Install Electrical Systems

Plug-and-Play electrical systems speed up setup time!

We use a ‘plug-and-play’ design in all our electrical systems to cut down on the amount of time and manpower required for setup. We also prefabricate our electrical systems before we ship them, ensuring a perfect “fit”, and allowing general laborers to install them on-site.

Depending on construction rules in your area, skilled electricians may only be needed when connecting the electrical system to the main power source. WeatherPort® electrical systems are built using materials and components that meet National Electrical Code. Our fabric buildings can be configured for United States North American or European Union power distribution systems.
